The Community Education Centre based at Wellington High School and Newlands College has offered dance classes for adult beginners for many years. All dance classes are offered at the central city campus of Wellington High School.
In Term 1 2010 they are offering classes which include Partner Dancing (Ballrom and Latin American), Bollywood Fusion Dance, Belly Dancing and Salsa for Beginners.
The Community Education Centre is a great place to take your first dance class – many of the instructors run their own dance studios so if you want to continue on you will have other options. Classes generally run each (school) term and are of eight week’s length which is a good length of time to. If you are interessted I’d suggest you do something about enrolling sooner rather than later classes start in the second week of Februrary and CEC classes are always popular.
Classes are generally in the evening and run for an 8 week term prices range from $95 to $165 per a person – payable in advance. Classses don’t require partners but also don’t guarantee equal numbers – more important for the salsa and partner dancing classes than for Belly Dancing or for Bollywood style.
